Teddy's Talent

Teddy “Heavy” Harrison is the heaviest kid in Mrs. Geraldstein’s classroom. Teddy is well aware of that but it doesn’t bother him one bit. Of course, like all people that are different, others make fun of him but that all changed one day.

It was a warm summer day in July and the children in Mrs. Geraldstein’s class were outside playing on the playground during recess. Two children by the names of Tommy and Billy were playing keep away from Teddy.

“You can’t get the ball” Tommy yelled out trying to keep the ball from Teddy.

Teddy with all his might jumped up and when the ball came flying in the air to Billy, the ball bounced off of Teddy’s stomach and landed in the grass.

“No fair” Billy fussed.

“You can’t do that, that’s cheating” Tommy said in frustration.

That is when Teddy discovered his talent.

“Well, too bad now you can’t keep the ball away from me” Teddy laughed.

All the other children laughed along with Teddy.

“What else can you do with your stomach” Sammy asked out of curiousity.

“ I bet I can the bounce the ball against the wall with my stomach” Teddy replied back.

Sammy grabbed his bouncy ball from his pocket and handed it to Teddy to try out his new talent. Teddy threw the ball against the wall and the ball came flying back and hit Teddy stomach. The game went on back and fourth for a while.

“That is pretty neat Teddy” Sammy said with amazement.

“Thanks, I bet if we went swimming I could make the biggest belly flop there is” Teddy challenged the other kids in his class.

“Then it’s on, after school we will meet by the Lake Edge Pool and have a belly flop contest” Sammy said.

They all agreed that Mrs. Geraldstein will be the judge of the contest, and whoever gets her the wettest wins. After school the whole class met at the pool and the contest started. Tommy was the first one to do his belly flop. He jumped a couple time on the diving board and jumped as high as he could and flopped into the water.

“Sorry Tommy, I am barely soaked” Mrs. Geraldstein told Tommy.

Then it was Sammy’s turn to jump and make a great splash. Sammy climbed up to the diving board, bounced on the diving board a couple of times and finally jumped as hard as he can. His jump only got a few drops on Mrs. Geraldstein. Mrs. Geraldstein shook her head at Sammy. Last but not least it was Teddy’s turn to jump. Everybody scooted back away from the pool and Teddy bounced on the diving board. Teddy took a deep breath and jumped as hard as he could. When he landed in the water, water splashed everywhere getting Mrs. Geraldstein drenched from head to toe.

“I think we know who the winner is” Mrs. Geraldstein laughed.

Mrs. Geraldstein held up his hand and everybody cheered for him. From that day on nobody made fun of Teddy again for they discovered his many talents.

The End
