Angelica's Halo

Once upon a time, there was a little angel named Angelica. She was envious of all the other angels because they all have halos and she didn’t. Angelica was still in Angels in Training. She really wanted to be like all the other Angels but how was she going to get her halo.


One night she knelt on her knees and asked God “God, how can I get my halo? I really want to be like all the other angels.”

A light shown down on her and God spoke to her saying “ Before you get your halo, you must go down to earth, find someone in distress and become their guardian angel. Then you shall have your halo.”

The next morning Angelica went down to earth and started to fly around to find someone in distress. After a while she spotted a little girl on the front porch crying. Angelica fluttered down quietly and unnoticed towards the little girl.

“Hi, my name is Angelica I am here to help you. What seems to be problem?” Angelica asked the little girl.

“My name is Francine and I just moved from Arkansas. I have no friends and my parents are constantly fighting” Francine said as she was catching her breath from crying.

Francine and Angelica talked most of the day and until it was Francine’s bedtime.

“ Tomorrow is a brand new day, and I will help you make friends and make your life better” Angelica said with a smile.

Francine closed her eyes and went to bed while Angelica starts to plan the day to transform her life.

The following morning Francine woke up from her sleep and started to get ready to go to school. She brushed her teeth, picked out her clothes to wear and packed her textbooks and notebooks. When the school bus arrived to pick up Francine, Angelica arrived right before the bus got there.

“Now remember Francine, I know you are a new student and it can be scary but it is all in the attitude. Don’t let them think that you are scared or shy.” Angelica told Francine.

Francine nodded and took three heavy breathes before arriving at school. She arrived to the classroom and when the teacher announced that there is a new student in the class, she took a deep breathe and smiled. She took a seat and her class started.

Angelica looked around and searched for other classmates that are like Francine.

During lunchtime Francine sat at the table by herself but before long others started to sit by her.

“Hi my name is Sarah, what is your name?” Sarah asked Francine nicely.

“My name is Francine, I just moved from Arkansas.” Francine answered.

Sarah and Francine started to talk through lunch and found out that they have a lot in common. By the end of the day Francine made a few more friends and they started to hang out after school and during lunchtime.

With the help of Angelica and Francine’s new friends she soon was able to forget about her parents fighting That frown she had before had disappeared and turned into a smile. Angelica knew that her time was almost up and her mission was complete.

Right before Francine went to bed Angelica said to Francine “it is about time for me to go back to heaven”.

“Thanks for everything Angelica, I wouldn’t have made it if it wasn’t for you” Francine said with happy tears.

“I am glad that I was able to help you. Just remember to be yourself and I will be watching you. When you hear a wind chime it means that an angel has gotten their halo.” Angelica said.

She kissed Francine on her cheek and disappeared into thin air.

While Francine was sitting on her porch, she heard the wind chime.

She thought to herself “Angelica must be getting her halo” with a smile.

Francine made new friends and Angelica got her halo.

They all lived happily ever after.
