Alexander James and the Monster under his Bed

On a windy September night after he finished his dinner he went upstairs to get ready for bed.

"Are you ready for bed, Alex?" his mom yelled to him from the bottom of the steps.

"Yes, mommy I'm ready" Alex replied back.

His mom slowly walked up the steps while Alexander James rushed to his room and jumped on his bed. Soon after he landed on his bed, his mom walked in and started to tuck him in.

"Good night, sleep tight don't let the bugs bite" Alex's mom said to him in a soft voice.

She covered him up and walked out of his room. Just then Alexander James heard a strange noise.

"Growwwwl. . . Growwwl"

"What was that noise, and where was it coming from?" Alex thought to himself. He slowly got out of bed and tiptoed quietly to turn on the lights. All of a sudden he heard another strange noise.

"Crunch, crunch, crunch"

Alex walked faster and faster to the door. He finally made it to the light switch and he turned on the lights. He started to look high and low for the noise. He didn't see anything so he turned the lights back off and rushed into bed. A few second later, the noise came back. This time it was growling and crunching.

"Groowwl . . . Crunch, crunch"

He decided to check under his bed. The closer he got the louder the noise got.

"GROWWL"

That is when he saw the monster under his bed. He was staring at the glowing eyes. As soon as he saw the eyes under the bed, he ran as fast as he could to his mom's room.

"Mommy, mommy, monster, monster!" Alex said trying to wake his mom up.

"Honey, there is no such thing as monsters" Alex's mom said in a soft tone.

She fell back to bed but Alex didn't believe her, he kept tapping on his mom's arm until she woke up again.

"Honey, how come you haven't gone back to bed?" Alex's mom asked.

"There's a monster under my bed, mommy" Alex whined back.

"I told you sweetie, monsters are not real" Alex's mom replied.

"Just go with me, pleeeasse" Alex said while trying to pull his mom out of bed.

"Okay honey, I'll go with you and show you that there is nothing to be afraid of" Alex's mom replied.

Alex led his mom to his room, where the very scary monster is. Just when they entered his room the strange noise came back.

"Groowwl"

"I told you mommy, there's a monster under my bed" Alexander James said as he was clenching on to his mom's arm.

"I am sure there is something other than a monster making that noise" his mom replied back trying to sound reassuring.

"What about the eyes I saw under my bed mommy?" Alex asked his mom.

"Let's turn on the lights and see what we can find" Alex's moms replied.

Alex went to turn on the light. As soon as Alex and his mom looked under the bed, their cat Whiskers ran out of the room.

"Well that explains the glowing eyes that you saw" his mom said trying not to laugh.

"But what about the noises I've heard, mommy?" Alex asked.

"It is your imagination honey. Next time you hear any strange or scary noises tell the monster that he's not real and that you are not afraid of him. I can promise that those noises will go away" Alex mom's replied back.

The next night Alex heard those same scary noises he heard the night before. Alex got in front of his bed and yelled to the monster:

"I'M NOT SCARED OF YOU ANY MORE, BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT REAL SO GO AWAY."

After that night, those scary noises never came back again.

THE END
